- Following the attack on the Twin Towers in September 2001, Florence lost her job as an M&A banker in London. She decided to go to Asia for a year to work as a volunteer in orphanages.
- In Kathmandu, Florence quickly realised that the children of the orphanage were being mistreated, and donations being diverted. She worked hard to improve the children’s situation but worried about what would happen to them once she left.
- So, she decided to shelter these children in a new house, financing a new orphanage that she structured into an association: LBU.
- In London, Child Action Nepal was established as a registered charity to assure the future financing of the orphanage.
